TSO gets jazzy with its Steinway

When you think of jazz and blues piano, you may not think of a Steinway concert grand.

"The typical jazz piano is probably what you'd find in a honky-tonk," said Peggy Oakes, coordinator of
Tupelo Symphony Orchestra's "We
Love the Piano" series.

A collection of eight pianists played around with Gershwin tunes, interpretion of the "Twelve-Part Blues" and a little "Misty."

Before the music started, TSO provided a background talk about jazz and the blues, both thoroughly American art forms.
